Halloween & Autumn Wall Art Ideas for a Cosy, Playful Home

As the days get shorter and autumn starts to creep in, I love adding a few seasonal touches around the house. You don’t need to completely redecorate for Halloween, a colourful print, a little pumpkin or two and some cosy autumn details can completely change the feel of a room.

My Halloween and autumn prints are designed to bring a playful seasonal feel to children’s bedrooms, nurseries and family spaces, without being too spooky (or too orange!).

Playful Halloween prints for kids' rooms

Halloween decorating can be especially fun in children’s rooms. Rather than anything frightening, I love simple graphic characters, bold colours and a little bit of humour.

My Boo! Ghost print is one of my favourites for this – a friendly ghost in  black (or pink) and cream that adds a Halloween feel while still working with modern children's interiors.

Pair it with bats, mini pumpkins, paper decorations or a little Halloween garland for an easy seasonal update that can all be packed away again in November.

Create a mini Halloween gallery wall

If you already have prints hanging in a nursery or children's bedroom, you don't need to change the whole gallery wall for autumn.

Try swapping just one or two prints for seasonal artwork. A Halloween print mixed amongst alphabet prints, animal artwork and colourful illustrations gives the room an autumn update without everything having to match.

It's also an easy way to create little seasonal traditions – bringing out the same favourite prints each October along with the Halloween decorations.]

Autumn wall art doesn't have to be Halloween themed

For something you can leave up for longer, look for artwork in rich autumnal colours or designs inspired by nature.

Warm reds, mustard yellow, deep green and earthy tones work beautifully at this time of year. Prints featuring leaves, woodland animals and nature can give a room an autumn feel without being specifically Halloween themed.

That makes them particularly good for kitchens, playrooms and other family spaces where you might want seasonal colour that lasts beyond 31 October.

Halloween decorating without the clutter

One reason I love seasonal wall art is that it doesn't take up any extra space.

A framed print can sit on a shelf, mantelpiece or picture ledge, or you can simply swap the artwork inside a frame that's already hanging on the wall. It's a particularly easy way to decorate smaller bedrooms and nurseries where there isn't much room for extra decorations.

And when Halloween is over, the print can be stored flat until next year.

Mix Halloween with your existing colours

Halloween interiors definitely don't have to mean orange and black.

Pink, blue, cream, green and mustard can all work beautifully alongside traditional Halloween decorations. Choosing seasonal artwork that shares colours with the rest of the room helps it feel like part of your home rather than something that's been added just for October.

That's very much the idea behind my own seasonal prints – fun, colourful Halloween artwork that still feels at home alongside the rest of my illustrations.

The top shelf has a book titled "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" and the bottom shelf has a book titled "The Little Ghost Who Was a Pumpkin". There is a framed print of a ghost with the word "Boo!" on the wall above the bookshelf.

Decorating for the cosiest season

Whether you go all-out for Halloween or simply add a pumpkin and a seasonal print, autumn is a lovely excuse to make home feel a little cosier.

My collection includes playful Halloween wall prints and colourful seasonal artwork designed for nurseries, children's rooms, playrooms and modern family homes.
